On Tuesday night, Spencer and I celebrated our two year anniversary a little early by going to see Ingrid Michaelson at The Troubador in West Hollywood. We have a tradition of seeing awesome concerts in October and didn't want to let it end.
2009- Ingrid Michaelson at The Troubador
2008- Kings of Leon at The Nokia
2007- Metric at The Glass House in Pomona
2006- Yeah Yeah Yeahs at The Paladium
You are jealous, I know.
I have to say, Ingrid M is probably one of my favourite live performers- she is hilarious!!! Very crowd friendly. We also appreciated that she tried to politely curb the enthusiasm of the very-obsessed fans who were shrilly singing along to every single song. Spencer had one young girl whose voice was, "like an ice pick in my ear" standing behind him. That is one thing we do not love about L.A. The crowds. They are generally obnoxious know-it-alls who drink too much (or spill it on you, Massive Attack concert '06) and text or video with their cell phones the entire time. We almost couldn't see the stage at Kings of Leon because of all the little blue lights in the air. It's the new lighter phenomenon, I guess?
Besides that, it was a perfect Starbucks-filled evening, meandering down Santa Monica Blvd and finding our way through yet another L.A. neighborhood. Who knew West Hollywood was so beautiful?
Or had such hip bus stops?
Happy Anniversary!! We are so thankful for such good friends!
